On November 1st & 2nd, Old Town Albuquerque's Plaza will transform into Plaza de los Recuerdos for two nights to honor our loved ones during Día de los Muertos. We invite you to bring your own ofrenda (altar), set it up on the plaza and be part of this community remembrance.
Important Dates
We invite the Albuquerque community to bring an ofrenda (altar) to display in Old Town Plaza.

Ofrenda Guidelines
Thank you for being part of turning Old Town Plaza into Plaza de los Recuerdos - a special place to remember and honor our loved ones.
- Your Space: Each ofrenda space is at least 6ft x 6ft, marked with marigold garland and numbered for easy identification
- What to Bring: Photos, mementos, and traditional elements that honor your loved ones. We encourage highly decorated ofrendas with papel picado, marigolds, and favorite foods to enhance the beauty and spirit of the celebration
- Candles: LED candles are encouraged for safety. Open flame candles are allowed only on the evening of November 2nd
- Protect Your Memories: We highly recommend bringing copies of photos and items rather than originals, as we cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items
- Candlelight Procession: Join us for this special community gathering to remember our loved ones together (see Important Dates for details)
- First Time Building an Ofrenda? See our guide on traditional elements and how to build your altar
